News

Sorry for the lack of updates, where does the time go.

new as at Round 2 point score
time based marshalling roster
so everyone knows when they go out & when they come in regardless of what happens throughout the day
times will be changed as follows to cater for the increased numbers
round 1.   9am – 11:45am
round 2.  11:45am – 2:30pm
round 3.   2:30pm – 5:15pm
senior watering duties
seniors are required to do your bit by watering throughout the day
as of rnd 2 point score, seniors are signing on to show they have helped
those not putting in will be prompted to do so
riders briefing attendance slips
this is intended to avoid the congestion after riders briefing & to get things under way sooner
remember, you will need a slip for each class that you are riding in
race day format handout
provides details for marshalling times, practice & race orders
sign on
the sign on windows have been opened up to allow for 2 people signing on from each side.
a middle window will be cut in the shed this week for new memberships & day licences
an awning at the front of the sign on shed should be competed this week also
scrutineering from the eastern gate
to service people parking under the powerlines, we will open a scrutineering area at the eastern gate, provided we have enough helpers.
Yes, we know we need to get set up for this & yes it is in the medium term plan, but without the bodies attending working bees we have no hope of realising the plan of  moving the fence out to the road & more access gates.
MAYBE THE PERSON OPENING THE WESTERN FENCE COULD HELP, when you are caught, your name will appear on the website so everyone knows who you are & your membership will be torn into tiny pieces
Track surface improvements
Thanks to Justin Barham for providing the club with a never ending supply of soil conditioner in the form of coconut husk used as a hydroponic medium for local vegie farmers. The medium is replaced every season & the waste still has the great water holding properties, which mixed into the track not only helps to keep the water in, but turns into nice loam providing the drive that the Lakes hard pack is not normally known for.
those that rode last weekend would have to notice the difference & the lack of dust on the sections of track already covered.
At least 1 truck load is spread into the track each working bee, but being very labour intensive, more help is required.
Canteen
work has commenced on the new insulated false roof over the canteen.
This is to reduce the heat in the canteen & also to eliminate the water leaks in the existing roof.
the roof will extend over the veranda at the western end so the barbecue may be moved outside also.
Working bees
still the same 6 – 10 people in attendance (from over 500 members)
lots of work to be done prior to our big meets
there was no whipper snipping carried out at all last week due to the work on the track surface.
any help is much appreciated, even if it is only a couple of hours

Valley Interclub Series

Round 3 Lakes 4th October
this has taken a lot of time & effort for the club committees to orginise
please support this series & help make it an annual event

Vintage Motocross

The Heaven VMX club will be holding another round of their series on the 24th & 25th October.
I think that after all the positive reports given from the last venture that we may see greater numbers than before & maybe even some interstate intrest.

Quads at Lakes

We have confirmed Round 4 of the Hardiman Cup for senior MX Quads on the 8th November
as we are unable to find a free date to schedule a quads practice day, we are looking at  running 2 x 20 minute practice sessions prior to racing on the day to allow riders to familiarise themselves with the Lakes track & get suspension & gearing setups fine tuned for the track conditions.
After seeing Worthytestpilot our track, we are all keen for this event to go ahead.
Lakes will be running the day so feel free to contact us, or for information about the series or getting into the sport or ATV MX racing in general contact
